Good for home projects

I switched from GstarCAD to ALCAD for the MEP plugins, and I've been happy. The MEP tools in ALCAD are super intuitive and cover a lot. For general 3D modeling, it's comparable to BricsCAD, but the specialized plugins are where ALCAD shines, IMO.

Pretty sure it's just one installation per single-user license.

A single-user license usually means one active installation at a time. You might be able to deactivate and reactivate if you switch machines, but it's not meant for simultaneous use on two different computers. They do offer network licenses for multiple users though.

Has anyone tried the PDF to DWG converter they offer? Wondering if it actually works well or if it's just a gimmick.

I've used it a few times. For simple, clean PDFs, it does a pretty good job converting to editable DWG. If the PDF is a scanned image or super messy, you'll still have some cleanup to do, but it's a useful tool overall.

That's right, perpetual. I got mine last year and haven't had to renew anything, just optional maintenance plans if you want. Big plus over some others.
